Effective field theory of gravitating continuum: solids, fluids, and aether unified

چکیده
Abstract We investigate the relativistic effective field theory (EFT) describing a non-dissipative gravitating continuum. In addition to ordinary continua, namely solids and fluids, we find an extraordinary more symmetric continuum, aether. particular, symmetry of aether concludes that homogeneous isotropic state behaves like cosmological constant. formulate EFT in unitary/comoving gauge which dynamical degrees freedom continuum (phonons) are eaten by spacetime metric. This choice, is interpreted as Lagrangian description hydrodynamics, offers neat geometrical understanding continua. examine thread-based decomposition with respect four-velocity different from foliation-based Arnowitt-Deser-Misner one. Our respects symmetries continua and, therefore, makes it possible systematically invariant building blocks for each even at higher orders derivative expansion. also discuss linear dynamics system show both gravitons phonons acquire “masses” background.

Einstein-aether as a quantum effective field theory
The possibility that Lorentz symmetry is violated in gravitational processes is relatively unconstrained by experiment, in stark contrast with the level of accuracy to which Lorentz symmetry has been confirmed in the matter sector. One model of Lorentz violation in the gravitational sector is Einstein-aether theory, in which Lorentz symmetry is broken by giving a vacuum expectation value to a d...
متن کاملMaxwell's Equations and Einstein-Gravity in the Planck Aether Model of a Unified Field Theory
In the Planck aether substratum model it is assumed that space is densely filled with both positive and negative Planck masses described by a nonlinear nonrelativistic operator field equation. Without expenditure of energy this substratum can form a lattice of vortex rings, with the vortex core radius equal the Planck length. The vortex ring radius is determined by a universal minimum energy qu...
متن کاملMean field theory of spherical gravitating systems
Important gaps remain in our understanding of the thermodynamics and statistical physics of self-gravitating systems. Using mean field theory, here we investigate the equilibrium properties of several spherically symmetric model systems confined in a finite domain consisting of either point masses or rotating mass shells of different dimension. We establish a direct connection between the spher...
متن کاملA teleparallel effective geometry for Einstein’s unified field theory
Riemannian and teleparallel geometrical approaches to the investigation of Maxwell electrodynamics shown that a unified field theory of gravitation and electromagnetism a la Einstein can be obtained from a stationary metric. This idea contrasts with the recently proposed premetric electrodynamics by Hehl and Obukhov. In the teleparallel case the definition of the electric field is obtained stra...
متن کاملQuantum field theory of fluids.
The quantum theory of fields is largely based on studying perturbations around noninteracting, or free, field theories, which correspond to a collection of quantum-mechanical harmonic oscillators. The quantum theory of an ordinary fluid is "freer", in the sense that the noninteracting theory also contains an infinite collection of quantum-mechanical free particles, corresponding to vortex modes...
